Until today, I thought the “it’s not you, it’s me” breakup excuse was reserved for the cast of Seinfeld in a vain attempt to feel better about a breakup. That’s not the case, however. Apparently Rory McIlroy used the famous sitcom excuse when calling off his engagement to Caroline Wozniacki. What made Rors go full-on Costanza?
“The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realize that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails.”
Excuse me while I laugh out loud. At least he didn’t get the poisoned invitations.
I couldn’t care less about their relationship status, but there has been a lot of chatter in the past few years that the source of Rory’s erratic play was Wozniacki. Whether or not that is true, I don’t know. But at least now we can turn to actual golf reasons as to why Rory hasn’t won in a while.
